Self-guided groups
Reservations are required for self-guided groups, including UW classes. Please call four weeks in advance. The Henry requests groups provide a tour leader and stay together in the museum. The education staff is available to provide tour guidance and requires teachers to preview the exhibitions in preparation for their tours. Teachers are also encouraged to attend an Educator Evening offered at the Henry (see Other Resources for dates), for more information on current exhibitions and approaches. Any additional activities must be approved in advance with the education staff. The self-guided tour fee is $20; there is no fee for UW groups.
Admission Policy
The Henry is accessible to all students. Free admission for students from kindergarten through university encourages exploration individually, with family, or in a group. In addition, University of Washington faculty and staff and Henry Gallery members are admitted free. High school and college students are requested to present student identification. There are fees for tours, curriculum guides and other resources as noted.
Parking/Bus
The Henry Art Gallery is located at 15th Ave NE and NE 41st on the western edge of the University of Washington campus. Parking for cars is occasionally available in the underground Visitor’s Parking Garage. The entrance is just north of the museum. Cars with three or more passengers receive reduced rates. School and tour buses must enter the campus at NE 45th and 17th Ave NE and park near the Henry. The museum may also be reached by numerous Metro and Community Transit bus lines.
Lunch Facilities
There are no group lunch facilities in the museum itself, but in good weather a large grassy area east of the museum is fine for a picnic lunch. The Henry café cannot accommodate school groups.
