Arlene Shechet: Artist in Residence
North Galleries
March 4, 2003 – May 4, 2003
Arlene Shechet’s sculptural objects and installations, often strongly influenced by Buddhism, make manifest the physical yet transient processes of their own creation. In spring 2003, Shechet worked in residence with University of Washington ceramics students and professor Akio Takamori to cast an installation of vessels in porcelain, inspired by the vast history of ceramics in Asia. The installation also included examples of historic ceramics from the Henry Art Gallery and area collections.
