Morris Graves: In Memoriam
Mezzanine
May 15, 2001 – August 12, 2001
The death of Morris Graves in 2001 marked the end of an era. Graves was the last survivor of a group of four painters—Graves, Mark Tobey, Kenneth Callahan, and Guy Anderson—who were pivotal, almost mythic figures in Northwest modern art history. In honor of Graves’ contributions to the cultural life and art of this region, the Henry Art Gallery mounted an exhibition of three of his early works from its permanent collection.
