Inspiring Vision

Image 1 / 3: Garry Winogrand. Untitled.

Image 2 / 3: Harold Eugene Edgerton. Wes Fesler Kicking a Football.

Inspiring Vision features a selection of photographs that corresponds to a curriculum guide the Henry has developed for K-12 teachers. The art works are accompanied by didactic labels that give suggestions for slowing down the looking process, encouraging the viewer to notice aspects of a photograph that might otherwise be overlooked. The photographs are drawn from the Henry’s Joseph and Elaine Monsen collection of photography and have been chosen with the eye of the photographer in mind. Foci include images that have been skillfully composed, caught in “the decisive moment,” or layered with interpretative possibility. Featured artists include Garry Winogrand, Harold Eugene Edgerton, Walker Evans, and Arthur Rothstein.

Organized by Halinka Wodzicki, Education Program Manager.
