The Henry presents a selection of photographs by Uta Barth from the permanent collection. Compelling in its deceptive simplicity, Uta Barth’s art questions the traditional functions of pictures and our expectations of them. By photographing in ordinary places and in simple rooms and landscapes, Barth uses what is familiar to shift attention from subject matter to a consciousness of the processes of perception and the visceral and intellectual pleasures of seeing. This exhibition follows the Henry’s 2000 presentation of the first museum survey of Uta Barth’s career, Uta Barth: In Between Places.

Curated by Henry Curator Sara Krajewski.
