Young and Restless
Media Gallery
October 31, 1997 – February 22, 1998
This provocative exhibition featured performance-based videos by seventeen women artists in their twenties and thirties working in New York. A continuous play of twenty-one short, amusing, energetic and ironic sketches dating between 1993 and 1997, this series of four programs, each between forty-five minutes and one hour in length, explored issues of female sexual identity. “Young and Restless” offered a look at how video was becoming an increasingly vital part of young artists’ works. Artists included: Alex Bag, Phyllis Baldino, Vanessa Beecroft, Cheryl Donegan, Anne Kugler, Alix Lambert, Kristin Lucas, Johanna MacArthur, Kirsten Mosher, Nurit Newman, Cara O’Connor, Kristen Oppenheim, Tatiana Parcero, Alix Pearlstein, Linda Post, Beverly Semmes, and Jocelyn Taylor.
