Throughout history, painters and poets, photographers and essayists, sculptors and novelists have reached across disciplines to collaborate on creative projects. How do such collaborations begin and evolve? What are the benefits and the difficulties of such collaborations? What is gained and what is lost?
Join media artist and writer Joe Milutis (Assistant Professor in the School of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences, UW Bothell) and poet Gregory Laynor (PhD student in the English Department, UW) for a conversation about collaboration.
During the program, Milutis and Laynor will discuss works from the Henry’s permanent collection that highlight these types of relationships with a specific focus on works featuring the writings of Frank O’Hara. Works displayed will include Biotherm, a series of lithograph prints by Jim Dine, alongside poems and essays by O’Hara and Bill Berkson; and a portfolio of lithographs by Willem de Kooning accompanied by poems by O’Hara.
Space for this program is limited. Please RSVP by Tuesday, February 26 to .
