Discover how to infuse art into your curriculum. Find new ways to get students to feel connected to contemporary art. Learn how to teach students of all ages how to look at and talk about art.
Two dynamic exhibitions will be used as springboards for leading discussions with students. Vortexhibition Polyphonica: Opus IV is an accessible exhibition where contemporary art mixes with textiles, historical prints, and craft objects in new and unexpected ways. Educators will also explore the evolving attitudes toward photographic imagery through the artworks in the Image Transfer: Pictures in a Remix Culture exhibition. During the workshop, educators will:
-Have the chance to engage in lively discussions about the art on view with the Henry’s education and curatorial staff.
-Learn innovative ways to take students on a visual journey through a range of art and ideas.
-Analyze their curriculum and explore ways to infuse the art on view into character education, life skills, social studies, language arts and history.
-Participate in K-12 classroom-ready art lessons in our Education Studio.
-Receive supplemental information including interdisciplinary lessons and images from both exhibitions that can be used in the classroom.
Workshop is available for 4 clock hours. $15 workshop fee includes materials and lunch. Space is limited. RSVP by Friday, October 1, 2010 by registering at eduworkshophenry.eventbrite.com or email or call 206.221.4980.
