Stray, a UW student poetry collective and reading series, presents The Telephone Project. A multimedia riff on the game of telephone and the Surrealists’ game of exquisite corpse, The Telephone Project included twenty-five artists and writers who adapted each others’ works in turn, in order to explore the transformations that took place and the interactions of art and poetry. The project began when the first artist was given the task of interpreting a poem by Owen Curtsinger into an artwork, which the next participant then translated into a poem. The contributors repeated this process until all twenty-five were exhausted. The presentation of this project includes a slideshow of the artworks and poems, an analysis of the project results by the project organizer and Stray president Brittany Dennison, and talks by one poet and one artist about their process in the project.
