This Projections event examines the current state of the photograph in contemporary art and culture. Seattle artists David Hartt, Margot Quan Knight, and Vesna Pavlovic will join Alex Klein, photographer and curatorial fellow at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art to
discuss some of the challenges and developments the medium faces in the digital age. Each artist will make a short presentation on the key conceptual, formal, or procedural challenges in their work. A discussion moderated by Klein and Henry Associate Curator Sara Krajewski will
follow.

This program also celebrates the launch of the book Words Without Pictures edited by Klein and colleagues from LACMA. The publication compiles the results of a year long web forum that commissioned artists and scholars to address the many facets of photographic practice today through essays and directed commentary.
