Visiting
the Henry with your group
The Henry offers 50-minute tours to both student and community groups. Henry
exhibitions often relate to current social issues and offer many curriculum
connections for classroom use. Exhibition guides focus on a selection of objects
that illustrate a theme or idea and use visual thinking techniques and lively
discussion to emphasize critical thinking skills. Most school tours conclude
with a writing or drawing project in the galleries to encourage individual
response. Henry guides are also available to work with teachers and can provide
guidance and advice concerning exhibitions and interpretive materials for students.
Scheduling
a Tour
Four weeks advance notice is recommended to schedule a tour. Tours are available
Tuesday through Sunday during open hours (11 am-5 pm, Thursdays until 8 pm).
Groups larger than sixteen are divided and receive two guides. For K-8 groups,
one adult chaperone to every six students is required; for high school groups,
one adult to sixteen students is required. A maximum of sixty students may
visit the museum at one time. Exhibitions change regularly at the Henry, so
please refer to the schedule for exhibitions specific to the time of your visit.
To schedule a tour, please call 206.221.4980.
Fees
Groups up to sixteen participants: $20
Groups with 17-32 participants: $30
Self-guided groups up to 32 participants: $15

Self-guided
groups
Reservations are required for self-guided groups, including UW classes. Please

and stay together in the museum. The education staff is available to provide
tour guidance and requires teachers to preview the exhibitions in preparation
for their tours. Teachers are also encouraged to attend an Educator Evening
offered at the Henry (see Other Resources for dates), for more information
on current exhibitions and approaches. Any additional activities must be approved
in advance with the education staff. The self-guided tour fee is $15; there
is no fee for UW groups.
