Visiting the Henry with your group
The Henry offers 50-minute tours to both student and community groups. Henry exhibitions often relate to current social issues and offer many curriculum connections for classroom use. Exhibition guides focus on a selection of objects that illustrate a theme or idea and use visual thinking techniques and lively discussion to emphasize critical thinking skills. Most school tours conclude with a writing or drawing project in the galleries to encourage individual response. Henry guides are also available to work with teachers and can provide guidance and advice concerning exhibitions and interpretive materials for students.

Scheduling a Tour
Four weeks advance notice is recommended to schedule a tour. Tours are available Tuesday through Sunday during open hours (11 am-5 pm, Thursdays until 8 pm). Groups larger than sixteen are divided and receive two guides. For K-8 groups, one adult chaperone to every six students is required; for high school groups, one adult to sixteen students is required. A maximum of sixty students may visit the museum at one time. Exhibitions change regularly at the Henry, so please refer to the schedule for exhibitions specific to the time of your visit. To schedule a tour, please call 206.221.4980.

Fees
Groups up to sixteen participants: $20
Groups with 17-32 participants: $30
Self-guided groups up to 32 participants: $15
UW classes pay no fee

There is no additional museum admission fee for K-20 students. For adults, the group discount admission fee of $4.50 (seniors $3.50) per person is charged in addition to the tour fee.

Self-guided groups
Reservations are required for self-guided groups, including UW classes. Please call four weeks in advance. The Henry requests groups provide a tour leader and stay together in the museum. The education staff is available to provide tour guidance and requires teachers to preview the exhibitions in preparation for their tours. Teachers are also encouraged to attend an Educator Evening offered at the Henry (see Other Resources for dates), for more information on current exhibitions and approaches. Any additional activities must be approved in advance with the education staff. The self-guided tour fee is $15; there is no fee for UW groups.

Admission Policy
The Henry is accessible to all students. Free admission for students from kindergarten through university encourages exploration individually, with family, or in a group. In addition, University of Washington faculty and staff and Henry Gallery members are admitted free. High school and college students are requested to present student identification. There are fees for tours, curriculum guides and other resources as noted.

Preview the exhibition
Please request an educator pass from the Tour Coordinator so that you may fully preview the exhibition, discuss the tour focus with your guide and effectively introduce the museum and the art to your students.

Lunch Facilities
There are no group lunch facilities in the museum itself, but in good weather a large grassy area east of the museum is fine for a picnic lunch. The Henry café cannot accommodate school groups.
